Captain Amarinder Singh to contest from Patiala seat

Amarinder Singh addresses mediaPunjab Congress state party president Captain Amarinder Singh Wednesday announced he will contest from Patiala. If elected, he would have to give up his seat in Lok Sabha seat won from Amritsar in 2014. The announcement was made on the sidelines of his Halqe Vich Captain programme in Malerkotla. When asked from which seat about Manpreet Singh Badal is likely to contest, Amarinder said, “Manpreet is busy in heading the election manifesto committee and we are looking closely as to which seat will suit him the best.”
Punjab Congress chief had contested 2012 Assembly election from Patiala and won by a margin of 42,000 votes. In the 2014 Lok Sabha election, however, when Preneet contested, the margin shrunk to 7,000 votes when AAP leader Dr Dharamvira Gandhi defeated her. Later, however, she won by 23,000 votes in the assembly by-election.
